Chief Scientific Officer Layn Natural Ingredients
James Roza is the Chief Scientific Officer for Layn Natural Ingredients and has over thirty years’
experience in the natural products/nutraceutical industry. A graduate of Chicago State
University and a certified nutritionist (CN) from the American Health Science University, he has
served on the executive board of the Natural Products Foundation (NPF), a not-for-profit
organization working to raise industry standards and served as Vice-Chair of the Natural
Products Association (NPA) ComPli standards committee. James also served as a US delegate on
several Codex committees and chaired the AOAC Task Force on Dietary Supplements. In
addition, he also served two terms as a Trustee to the American Herbal Products Association
and served numerous terms on the Citizens for Health Board of Directors. Other noteworthy
accomplishments include his role as chair of both the Grape Seed Scientific and the Chondroitin
Sulfate committees which were instrumental in establishing industry and USP standards.
Most recently, his human clinical study on SophorOx® for reducing oxidative stress and
improving body composition Effect of SophorOx® on Oxidative Stress and Body Composition in
Individuals with High BMI: A Randomized Controlled Trial was published in the Journal
Diabetes Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity (June 2024). He has also authored numerous other
studies on tocotrienols Effect of Citrus Flavonoids and Tocotrienols on Serum Cholesterol Levels
in Hypercholesterolemic Subjects, HempBroad CBD® Effect of Broad-Spectrum Hemp Extract on
Neurobehavioral Activity on the Immobilization Stress-Induced Model in Sprague Dawley Rats
and Long Jack Eurycoma longifolia on cortisol and testosterone levels in endurance mountain
bike riders.
